Telmisartan + Amlodipine
THERAPEUTIC SEGMENT:
Cardiology
INDICATIONS:
- Telysa AM indicated for the treatment of hypertension alone or with other antihypertensive agents to lower blood pressure.
- Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.
- Telysa AM tablets are indicated as initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple antihypertensive agents to achieve their blood pressure goals
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Telysa AM is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (DHP-CCB) combination product.
(Telmisartan) selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT₁ receptor found in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal glands. By inhibiting the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, telmisartan helps relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure.
(Amlodipine) is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. It acts as a peripheral arterial vasodilator, reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure.
