BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
M-Low (Amlodipine) is a long acting dihydropyridine calcium antagonist or calcium channel blocker. Its generic name is Amlodipine besylate. It inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into cardiac and vascular smooth muscles. Since calcium is important in muscle contraction, blocking calcium transport relaxes artery muscles and dilates coronary arteries & other arteries of the body. By relaxing these arteries it lowers blood pressure and also prevents from chest pain resulting due to coronary artery spasm.
