INDICATIONS:
Scipixa is indicated for:
- Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
- Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), and for the reduction in the risk of recurrent DVT and PE following initial therapy.
- Prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Scipixa (Apixaban) is a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) and a selective factor Xa inhibitor, it works by selectively inhibiting factor Xa, a key enzyme in the coagulation cascade responsible for thrombin generation and clot formation. By blocking factor Xa, Apixaban reduces thrombin production, prevents the development of thrombi, and lowers the risk of thromboembolic events, all without the need for routine coagulation monitoring.
